The book extensively examines the work of 15 of the most important Brazilian furniture designers in the modern period, between the 1940s and 70s, including: Lina Bo Bardi, Joaquim Tenreiro, José Zanine Caldas, Sergio Rodrigues and Jorge Zalszupin. The works are presented in detail over nearly 500 pages that allows us to perceive details of the creative reasoning and the variations of constructive and aesthetic solution employed by each of the designers approached. The text signed by Professor Maria Cecilia Loschiavo - author of the most important academic bibliographic source on the subject, originally dated 1995 and reedited by Olhares -, in partnership with his colleague Tatiana Sakurai, he reviews the elements that formed the genesis of modern Brazilian design and weaves an analysis that leads the subject to its current context of dialogue with art and international appreciation. In addition, there are also biographical profiles of each of the main authors and two extra chapters, one on the contributions of architects to modern furniture design and the final chapter on other contributions, making clear the extent of production in the period.
