PEDRO REYES:
ESCULTURAS HABITABLES

MEXICO CITY
AGO PROJECTS DESIGN GALLERY
NOV 2019 - JAN 2020

Sculpture Pedro Reyes presented a series of chairs, tables, bedroom furniture and =, mosaics and models through the exhibition Habitable Sculptures at the AGO projects design museum in Mexico City. The collection of pieces created a sculptural language and enriched each other with the intention of sharing with visitors a millennial journey inspired by the past but with a futuristic vision.

The visionary of Reyes was expressed through the sculptural, organic and handmade essence of each piece, each one the protagonist of the story. Each of these works is a small and domestic in scale, enriched by the conceptual and sculptural language that Reyes has cultivated in recent years.

"We have always seen architectural features in his art, and art in his architecture. Pedro works with a well-defined language of his own, in which his style and vision are highly characteristic and his own.”

The founders of the museum Rodman Primack and Rudy F Weissenberg seek to present work by new artist or work from current artist with the idea of forging a high level of social awareness through design. Reyes whose work is constantly seeking to serve as an agent for positive change was an was an obvious choice for collaboration. “We have always seen architectural features in his art, and art in his architecture. Pedro works with a well-defined language of his own, in which his style and vision are highly characteristic and his own”. The curators refer to the creative, monumental and a very person small-scale proposal presented by Pedro Reyes, which combines conceptual art, sculpture and installation with the intention of actively integrating the public into the show.
