HOW SOON IS NOW
GALERIE JUDIN
BERLIN
2014
'How soon is now' is a 12-studio exhibition of Berlin-based architects, designers and engineers that takes up themes from the legendary "This Is Tomorrow" exhibition, held at London's Whitechapel Art Gallery in 1956.
"Given the variety of contemporary social, economic and ecological problems in combination with the acceleration of technological change, we are positioned in an inclusive and complex time." say the organizers. “If yesterday's tomorrow is not today, how soon is it now? What values and possibilities can we imagine with a more speculative approach that frees itself from the limitations of daily practice? "
Through spatial interventions and manifestos, the exhibition will analyze today's sensitivities and needs and where they might lead. "Speculating on antagonistic collaboration, SOON IS NOW - started by Frank Barkow, Arno Brandlhuber and Sam Chermayeff - sets a program for the future."
The 12 Berlin-based studios include: Barkow Leibinger, Brandlhuber +, Fehling & Gogel, Jesko Fezer, Christoph Gengnagel, Gonzalez Haase AAS, Konstantin Grcic, June 14 I Meyer-Grohbrügge & Chermayeff, Ludwig Leo, J. Mayer H. , Sauerbruch Hutton and something fantastic.
As part of the exhibition program, a series of talks will be held with How soon is now participants and invited guests every Wednesday, at 6 p.m., beginning September 17 and continuing through October 29, 2014. The exhibition itself runs from September 13 to November 1, 2014 at the Galerie Judin in Berlin.
