This catalogue published in conjunction with the exhibition shown at the ICO Museum in Madrid, focuses on the topic of "the Mediterranean house" looking into its operational presence in the narrow context of: the fifties. This was a period characterised by the influence of two masters of international architecture: Gio Ponti and Alberto Sartoris, whose ideology was based on mediation between tradition and modernity. Through a wealth of documental sources – projects, drawings, magazines, correspondence, publications and photographs – the effects of a reflection on architecture that incorporates historical, landscape and anthropological approaches, among the personal and professional contacts that were established between leaders in modern architecture are divulged.
