On the occasion of Salone Mobile’s 2018 edition, Vouge Italia celebrated the relaunch of their Casa Vouge supplement with the intervention “Life in Vouge”. Eight contemporary designers were invited to restyle the fashion magazine’s offices. Among the designers, the Belgium duo, Muller Van Severen, represented by Side Gallery, were chosen to redesign the Talents Room for Sara Sozzani Maino, deputy editor-in-chief of Vogue Italia and head of Vouge Talents. The challenge was to envisage a place where the workday’s peace becomes fluid, favoring an expanded, diffused creativity.

Abiding to their minimalist philosophy, the design duo decluttered the room of all superfluous objects to unveil its true essence, they unraveled the room but kept the deputy editor’s cupboard, which contents of books, magazines and notebooks act as inspiration.
They then set up the space like a collage, employing some of their iconic pieces. Their custom furniture was vital to the redesigning of the space. Employing the famous “writing desk + low table + lamp” combines no less than three functions inviting the user to work, ready and host meetings seated around the low the table. They also place their geometric wire beds in the office, to offer the team a place to rest, reaffirming their belief that “relaxing is an important part of a productive day of work”.
