About
Lee Jeongwon is a South Korean glass artist whose practice explores the relationship between glass, light, colour, and perception. Working primarily with blown glass, he creates sculptural vessels in which the transparency and optical qualities of the material become integral to the experience of the object.
The rounded volume and translucent surface allow light to pass through, reflect, and shift across the glass, subtly altering the perception of the object according to its surroundings and the position of the viewer. The vessel becomes a structure through which Lee investigates the changing behaviour of light, with its seemingly simple silhouette giving way to a complex interplay of reflection, transparency, and varying densities within the blown glass.

Biography
Lee Jeongwon is a South Korean glass artist whose work investigates the perceptual qualities of glass through light, colour, transparency, and reflection. His practice centres on blown glass and often develops from simple, archetypal volumes whose appearance continually changes in response to their environment.
Light plays a central role in Lee’s work, functioning not simply as a means of illuminating the object but as an active element within it. Passing through and reflecting from the glass, it produces shifting tones, densities, and visual distortions that transform the perception of the form. His vessels consequently exist between object and optical experience, revealing the material as something simultaneously solid and visually elusive.
Lee’s work has been presented internationally, including in Welcoming the Moon – Korean Hands, the Next Generation at the Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong in 2021, an exhibition dedicated to contemporary Korean craft in which his glass works explored the colours and visual qualities associated with moonlight. In 2026, his work is presented in the solo exhibition Movement of Light (빛의 움직임) at Gallery Tora in Busan, in collaboration with Choeunsook Gallery, further developing his ongoing exploration of the relationship between glass and light.
