Biography
Franca Helg was an Italian architect and designer, closely associated with the Neo-Rationalist movement. She graduated in architecture from the Politecnico di Milano and began her professional career working with Franco Albini. In 1951, she became Albini's partner, and they established a highly influential practice.
Helg was known for her refined use of materials and her ability to combine functionality with aesthetic elegance, contributing significantly to the minimalist design ethos.
Among her notable works are the design of the "Luisella" chair in 1960, and various contributions to significant architectural projects such as the renovation of the Milanese museum "Museo del Tesoro di San Lorenzo" in Genoa, alongside Albini. Helg also collaborated with many prestigious companies, including Cassina, Arflex, and Poggi.
In addition to her design work, Helg was a respected academic, teaching architectural design at the Politecnico di Milano. Her legacy lives on in the world of design and architecture, where her commitment to elegant, functional design continues to inspire future generations.
