Side Gallery

On the occasion of Salon Art + Design New York in 2019, Side Gallery presented a collection of pieces by Brazilian designers Geraldo de Barros, Joaquim Tenreiro, Jorge Zalszupin and Sergio Rodrigues, which were sophisticatedly shown with a selection of contemporary works by designers Muller Van Severen, Sabine Marcelis, Sophie Rowley and Fernanda Fragateiro. The blue and cream booth was executed with elegance and sophistication showing a chic combination of modern and contemporary design in dialogue. Pieces of particular note, exhibited at the fair included a pair of armchairs, model “ON” by Oscar Niemeyer, a buffet by Belgium design duo Muller Van Severen, commissioned and produced by Side Gallery. The lacquered blue steel cabinet embodied the couples desire to use integrally coloured materials, allowing the colour to penetrate from within a piece. Two contemporary vases by Julie Richoz from her Isla Series were elegantly placed on top of the electric blue buffet. A set of shelves by Fernanda Fragateiro from her series “Letter to Anni Albers” could be seen fixed to the walls of the booth, and finally a and a pair of day beds by Geraldo de Barros for Unilabor upholstered in blue velvet completed the interiors of the exhibition.
