LINA BO BARDI: HABITAT
MEXICO
MUSEO JUMEX
JAN 30 2020 - MAY 10 2020
The exhibition went by the title of the magazine Habitat - founded by Bo Bardi and her husband Pietro Maria Bardi, and edited by them between 1950 and 1953 -, and presented Lina as a radical cultural figure of the 20th century who became critically involved in a process of unlearning western knowledge through its multiple commitments in the expanded fields of cultural practice.
Lina Bo Bardi (1914-1992) studied architecture in her native Rome. Upon arriving in Brazil in 1946 at the age of 32, he quickly immersed himself in the country's diverse cultures to create a new design language from the unique perspective of his experience, especially his time in Salvador de Bahia.
The show Lina Bo Bardi: Habitat was a collaboration between, MASP, Museo Jumex and MCA Chicago, the Chicago show was unfortunately cancelled due the the COVID-19 pandemic.
