About
Chair Model “Lace”, created by Conie Vallese in Italy in 2026 exclusively for Side Gallery, embodies the designer’s exploration of sculptural furniture through the relationship between form, ornament, and material expression. Conceived as a unique piece, the chair moves beyond its functional purpose to become an individual artistic statement, reflecting Vallese’s interest in transforming familiar objects into expressive contemporary forms.
The design draws on the delicate and intricate qualities suggested by lace, exploring the relationship between ornamentation and structure. Its sculptural character establishes a dialogue between fragility and strength, while the interplay of decorative elements and functional considerations reflects Vallese’s distinctive approach to furniture as an artistic medium.
Positioned between art and design, Chair Model “Lace” reflects Vallese’s ongoing investigation into the expressive possibilities of materials and craftsmanship. Created specifically for Side Gallery, the piece emphasizes individuality and artistic experimentation, offering a contemporary interpretation of the chair as both a functional object and an autonomous sculptural presence.
Biography
Conie Vallese is an Argentinian designer based in Milan, Italy, working across objects, furniture, and sculpture in bronze, glass, ceramics, and textiles. Born and raised in Buenos Aires, her practice is centred on form, material, and process, often inspired by flowers and natural patterns.
Her work moves fluidly between the functional and the sculptural, emphasizing material presence and the interplay between fragility and strength. By exploring the delicate balance between resilience, beauty, and vulnerability, Vallese creates pieces that resonate with both tactile and visual poetry.
Rooted in craft and contemporary design, her objects reflect a dialogue between natural forms and refined industrial techniques, bridging her South American heritage with the creative energy of the Italian design context.
