Tendo Mokko and Japanese Modern is a comprehensive retrospective book celebrating 80 years of Tendo Mokko, one of Japan’s most respected furniture makers. The volume chronicles the company's evolution and its collaborations with leading architects and designers — including Isamu Kenmochi, Sori Yanagi, Kunio Maekawa and Kenzo Tange — through a rich visual archive of classic chairs and furniture. In addition to highlighting their heritage designs, the book documents a special “80 Project” in which contemporary designers (e.g. Wataru Kumano, Koichi Futamata, Takashi Nakamura) created new work, exploring how Tendo Mokko’s craftsmanship continues to define Japanese modern design in both tradition and innovation.
