Antonio Attolini Lack is a monographic publication dedicated to one of the most distinctive figures in twentieth-century Mexican architecture. Published by CONACULTA and the Academia Nacional de Arquitectos, the volume presents a comprehensive overview of Attolini’s work and philosophy, documenting a career that moved fluidly between architecture, interior design, furniture and craftsmanship.
Known for what he described as “integral architecture,” Attolini conceived buildings as total environments in which structure, furniture, materials, light and landscape formed part of a unified experience. His projects ranged from private residences and religious buildings to commercial and civic spaces, always combining modern architectural principles with a strong sensitivity to local materials and Mexican spatial traditions.
Richly illustrated with photographs, drawings and archival material, the publication traces Attolini’s evolution through projects such as the Pedregal residences, the Church of Santa Cruz del Pedregal and numerous interiors and furniture designs. More than a conventional architectural survey, the book offers insight into an approach in which architecture extends beyond buildings to encompass every aspect of everyday life and human experience.
