Heitor dos Prazeres is a monographic publication dedicated to the life and work of the Brazilian artist, composer and musician Heitor dos Prazeres (1898–1966). Published as the twenty-eighth volume of the Coleção Folha Grandes Pintores Brasileiros, the book places his work within a broader history of Brazilian painting while examining the distinctive visual language through which he represented the social and cultural life of Rio de Janeiro.

Richly illustrated, the volume combines biographical and historical material with a selection and analysis of Heitor’s paintings. His compositions depict scenes of samba, Carnival, popular festivities and everyday life, characterized by rhythmic arrangements of figures, vivid colour and a highly individual approach to perspective and movement. The publication situates these works alongside the trajectory of an artist whose practice was inseparable from his involvement in the development of samba and Brazilian popular culture.

Part of a twenty-eight-volume collection devoted to major figures in Brazilian art, the book provides a concise visual and critical introduction to Heitor dos Prazeres’ practice. Through its combination of chronology, biography and individual analyses of his works, the publication offers an accessible reference for understanding his singular position within twentieth-century Brazilian art.
